If you were wondering about the wonderful location of our last campaign, here we present Estancia Vik. This rough luxe hotel is located in one of the most exclusive spots in the world: José Ignacio, only 40 km from Punta del Este, on the Atlantic coast of Uruguay.
An old fishermen’s village, José Ignacio attracts the most sophisticated crowd by keeping intact its rustic charm while offering inns, restaurants and shops that have nothing to envy the most important resorts, always maintaining its particular style, between “shabby chic and super simple. In 2009, a little further away from the coast, and on the side of José Ignacio Lagoon, Estancia Vik opened its doors, making billionaire Norwegian businessman Alexander Vik’s dream come true, and quickly became “the” place to stay and not to leave at all while in José Ignacio.
With an extension that covers more than 5,000 metres, this 7-star rural hotel surprises its visitors by greeting them with an impressive marble sculpture, specially commissioned to local sculptor Pablo Atchugarry. But art also finds its place throughout the lodge: the 12 rooms were furnished and costumized by different Uruguayan artists, which allows guests to identify themselves with a particular taste.
The common areas also present a unique universe, with the dining room overlooking the wine cellar; the huge pool picnic, lounge, fitness center and spa and grill where one can enjoy a typical asado or barbequed meat. The unforgettable sunsets can be experienced on horseback across the fields, or lying on the terrace with a delicious drink in hand. With absolutely every detail taken care of, Estancia Vik is set to become a true synonym of vacation. But, if tempted by mixing a little bit of action, it’s only 10 minutes to Uruguay’s chicest village.
We thank Vik José Ignacio for the images.
